Gradfest Prep

The past month has been one of the most eventful, yet satisfying semesters in my college

career. Everyone in my group as well, has made the entire experience so enjoyable, with

everyone doing the jobs they have been assigned! To start, I was assigned to create an

animation that combined the many quotes from alumni that we were able to get from past

alumni, and put onto post notes that would turn and reveal new quotes. I did start off 3D

modeling the animation, but ran into troubles as Hoverlay wouldn’t pick up when a material was supposed to have its opacity adjusted. After many headaches, I finally decided with the team that the best decision would actually be to switch over to an editing software, pasting the quotes onto the post it notes and just editing them on a flat surface. As seen below, even though the animation itself doesn’t show, it worked out perfectly, and the animation itself looked even better this way than it did when it was 3D!!

Mishaps in Maya

Nareg was also able to remodel everything that was not originally showing up in hoverlay. Things like the CSUN library, and the graduation stage were now assigned materials that could actually be used within Hoverlay. (Thanks and good job Nareg (: ) Another thing that was pretty cool that was added were the rows of seats that the user would be placed in when looking at the graduation stage. I thought this was such a wonderful addition, it made it feel much more like we were actually looking into what the graduation itself would look like and not just a model of the place.

Believe in Blender

Finally, to end off my blog post, our group is FINALLY finished with everything!! Even though our due date was technically sooner than everyone else’s, because our group worked so well together, we were able to get everything done with only complications from Hoverlay. Ayon did such a beautiful job putting together the app, sara was amazing with her designs and those buttons. Naregs amazing 3d modeling, Kevlynn’s ability to assign everyone something to do along with troubleshooting our AR app, and finally Ian’s awesome monopod removal, website-creation skills, and he was even able to get our own custom domain for the website!! All in all, our project wouldn’t have been able to be pulled together without everyone and their roles!
